Julie’s art reflects her gentle, thoughtful nature. Her meditative approach to art making is evident in her colored pencil nature studies, where she uses the source material as a springboard to abstract improvisation. These drawings have a sense of tranquility due to their soft colors, uncrowded compositions, and careful lines. Julie has also discovered a gift for making sculptural objects. Using a variety of natural materials, such as reed and sticks, she makes structures she calls “Dream Catchers.” Each piece takes months to make and serves as a visual journal, embedded with autobiographical symbols.
