In his drawings that he calls “spaceships,” he uses colored pens to make intricate, tightly constructed maze-like forms. In his acrylic paintings, he builds up the structure gradually by layering broad lines and patches of thick paint, leaving openings and gaps so multiple layers can be seen, his brush work calm and confident. This all contributes to the sense of monumentality and gravitas in his paintings.
